Talentum Oyj Press Release 8 April 2010, At 10.50 AM
Pekka Seppänen, editor-in-chief of the Talouselämä magazine will leave Talentum and the Talouselämä magazine on 3 September 2010. This is exactly ten years after he started as the magazine’s editor-in-chief.
Seppänen has been working in a number of tasks in Talentum, both in succession and in parallel. He has worked as a member of the Group Executive Management, business unit director, director in charge of journalism, chairman and member of the board of the group companies, reporter, editor-in-chief, mentor and columnist.
“Talentum has provided me with a unique opportunity to do a broad range of tasks. I am very grateful of that. It has been enormously rewarding to work with bright people. However, in ten years, an editor-in-chief already achieves everything he can and wants. As all indicators are upwards, I can with good conscience pass the baton to my successors. In the near future, I will try to ensure that I will have more time to write, provide training and take part in the work of different boards,” explains Seppänen.
“We thank Pekka Seppänen for the successful work. The circulation of the Talouselämä magazine has increased by more than 20 per cent during the past ten years. Last year, the circulation exceeded 80,000 for the first time. The changes introduced in Talouselämä in 2009 have received extremely positive feedback from readers. According to the recent National Readership Survey, the readership of the magazine has increased by 14 per cent from last year,” says Juha Blomster, CEO of Talentum.
Pekka Seppänen will continue his cooperation with Talentum. He has promised to provide Talentum’s key staff members with coaching. He will also continue to produce with Pertti Hämäläinen ‘Pomo & Väisänen’ cartoons in the Talouselämä magazine.
Talentum has started a recruiting process aimed at finding a new editor-in-chief for Talouselämä magazine.
